NASA Satellite Image of Hurricane Eugene August 3rd 2011

While Hurricane Emily has gathered in the United State's Atlantic Ocean side, another Hurricane is gathering up strength on the Pacific Ocean. Hurricane Eugene captured on the NASA Rapid Response satellite network, the image above was captured at 18:05 UTC (1:05 PM Eastern Time). Near the time of the image, Hurricane Eugene was measured with maximum sustained winds of 140 miles per hour according to the National Weather Service's National Hurricane Center.

Through an image taken from the NASA Terra satellite, Hurricane Emily is shown as a massive formation preparing to bear down on the Greater Antilles islands. Recorded Wednesday at 14:45 to 14:50 UTC (9:45 to 9:50 AM Eastern time) within the NASA's Lesser Antilles region.

NASA Image Showing Smoke Plumes Over Upper Great Slave Lake July 27th 2011

NASA AERONET satellite image from July 27th 2011 shows smoke plumes in the middle of Canada's Northwest Territories. The fires appear in a region within the upper part of Great Slave Lake inside the Northwest Territories below Artillery Lake. Largest plume of smoke and/or fire is roughly 300 kilometers east of Yellowknife. Historic Fort Reliance is about 30 kilometers between both a larger and smaller plumes.
